You wake up one day with much time to kill and with absolutely nothing to do. So you end up doing what you have been doing the past year, and find yourself bored stiff that you actually miss your sleeping-pill classroom lectures. Give yourself a break. How about doing something different and meaningful this summer vacation?
- Start a blog and maintain it.
- Or revive your old blog. (like what i did here!)
- Try qwerty typing.
- Swim.
- Play a musical instrument.
- Write a joke and tell it to your friends.
- Memorize a poem and perform it.
Renew old bonds.
- Visit old friends.
- Spend more time with family.
- Tie loose ends. Say sorry. Give thanks.
- Trace your roots. Make an ancestral tree.
Finish
a good book. Or at least begin reading one.
- Travel. Get to know your own country and its neighboring towns.
- Brush up on history.
- Commune with nature. Go mountain hiking.
- Vist museums, historical places, and parks.
- Stargaze.
Look closer.
- Clean your own room.
- Keep a journal.
- Return things you have borrowed.
- Give away stuff you no longer need.
Let yourself go.
- Watch a good movie alone.
- Hold a prayer.
- Daydream.
- Laugh like no one else can hear.
- Dance like no one watching.
Remember the child.
- Wonder.
- Fly a kite.
- Sing in the rain.
- Believe in fairy tales again.
Detour from the paved roads of life and take a walk in the alleys and back roads. Who knows what surprises lie await in the places you have forgotten or chosen not to go.
Take a vacation from your usual vacation.
